cultivating balance…inner and outer…

25_silhouettes____5_of_25__vesica_piscis__by_paulog732-d5mhp9g                                                                                                   (picture by Paul G732)

this is a process, working with ‘nature painting’ (also known as ‘sandpainting’), working with natural materials to bring out of us what is within our field…and placing it out there…onto earth…for it to be seen….for it to be heard….and for to be able to listen…and see maybe the bigger picture as well as the smaller detail 😉

this one works with the shape of the vesica pisis (like above), the intention being to cultivate balance….this is also known as yanantin in peru..

with this we put in each side what feels out of balance for us…in us and/or in our lives… what makes us feel out of balance…and what things seem opposite to eachother….seeing if and/or how they balance….

this is especially for equinox time…that balance of night and day….but can be done anytime….

ingredients ~ sticks, natural compostable materials e.g. leaves, petals, nuts, fruits….

process~

beginning with opening sacred space

we set our intention for this process….

and lay out on the floor some sticks in to circles that interweave…as in the vesica piscis…..
(blowing into these sticks our intention for these sticks…to hold our journey of inner an outer balance that will be laid here within them)

choosing one side of the vesica piscis…..to represent one side…..and the other side…..

and then you can blow into chosen twigs, leaves, petals etc the essence~energies of these that are within you…informing these natural materials with your breath what you wish to place in this painting…the ‘opposites’ in your life… and in yourself…and the world around you….
…..and place them into the part of the circle that represents what you regard it as….
it is hard to find names… but one side (i.e. the part of one circle that does not overlap with the other), may be more things you feel ‘positive’ about….the part of the other circle that does not overlap you may put things that you do not feel ‘positive’ about…*
(the suggestion here is to leave the middle interwoven part empty…that will come part of the process later)

(it can be lovely to do this in a group to be able to, when choose to..hear what is being put in…both being sacred witness to eachothers work…and inspiration of more which could be put in).

then when you feel ready….you can get up and try standing on each side..see how each side of those opposites feel…..maybe noticing how you feel in the body, maybe closing eyes and seeing if images come to mind…

then when experimented with this…when feel ready… you can try standing in the middle….
and see how this feels…
what images come to mind?
any sounds?
how does the body feel?
is there any way the body wishes to move? what is the movement?
are there any words that come?

and you can take a moment….to feel how it feels
~physically…at the physical level what is happening… also known as perceiving from the base energy centre or ‘serpent’ level….

and how it feels
~emotionally….what are the stories occurring and happening here…what is happening with the mind and emotions here… also known as seeing through the sacral energy centre…through the eyes of ‘jaguar’ archetype…..how does it feel?

and how it feels~
~at a ‘soul’ level…at the level of journey, symbolic, myth/fairy tale and adventure…. seeing through the third eye energy centre…through the eyes of ‘hummingbird’ archetype…..how does this feel?
are there any words, images? movements here

and how this feels
at the energetic…..’9th’ energy centre high above the energy field….the eyes of eagle archetype…where all is seen as it is….energy…..
and how it feels here…any movements, images, words….

and then how it feels in the body…where you are now… again are there any movement that your body can make to remind yourself of this learning, this way of being… any images that can remind you?

then when ready step out….
and gather up the nature painting…. and give the painting with appreciation to earth, fire or water (i.e scatter it on the earth, put it on a fire or place it in stream or sea or other water)

you can allow that to flow away….with appreciation…

……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

to come and do this at a workshops together (you can do this on own or your own group too but it is lovely to be held by another too) , or if you have any questions, please feel free to get in contact… 🙂

…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………*extra note
this is your picture…. flowing from you… but to give examples if you wish to use them to spring board.for what you ‘blow in’ to the natural materials……
you maybe might
~blow into a leaf a recurring situation in your life that you are not happy about….and placing that in one side…. then maybe blowing into another leaf the opposite of that…times when that doesn’t happen…where something actually you like that is the opposite happens….

~maybe blowing in an aspect of yourself you don’t like, then blowing in the opposite of that that you can also be sometimes….

….and there are many more examples you can find to come in this way…

…..you might even blow in two things that you regard as opposites e.g. dark and light, male and female…. feel what you wish to do with these…which side to put them on….or maybe put them on both… e.g. wounded masculine on one said, and healed masculine on the other side.

..with all of these…feel free to follow yourself and your heart on this…..and see happens….
